DEVA Pro is a whole new level o↓∏<f headphone, planar magnetic and bl>>♥uetooth enabled, better than the ori "ginal DEVA, and surely better than the HE400SE and Sundara it is made to compete with. In fact≈↕, throughout the entire midrange cate×εγ♦gory, no headphone comes with a b'∑ ™luetooth amplifier as good as DEVA Pro. As we will see, this also leads tα↑o a disadvantage with DEVA Pro, but first, let’s explor€•↓ e the headphones.
HIFIMAN went with a mor®$→e color neutral approach for DEVA Pro, with a silver and black color sc¥↑heme, making DEVA Pro sleeker and more elegant>↓σ↕ than the original DEVA. They also made DEVA Pro better built than the original DEVA, and where the original felt a bit ₽'→plasticky, the PRO varian≥"t feels full metallic and be♣ ←tter built. HIFIMAN didn’t≠↕ change the overall specifications, an€¶d both have an 18 OHM impedance, aγ↕£long with an extremely low SPL of 93.5 ± dB, making both the origiλ$nal DEVA and DEVA Pro hard to drive. The Bluetooth ♦✘≈©connection stability of the¥δ Bluemini is excelle×δ✔nt, to the point where doing my u♥¥☆★sual test, placing the → smartphone in a backp™σ&ack, and covering it in a few Ω∞∑ blankets, or palming i♠↓§t, results in still a strong con₽σπ∞nection.

Both the original and the new DEVA Pro have support for LDAC, aptX H★☆©¥D, aptX, AAC and SBC, but the ±₹εnew Himalaya Bluemini R2R ÷Ωσ£Receiver has vastly better o₹•verall specifications than the σ★original Bluemini. We’re talkαδδing about a -120dB SNR ∏€≤↑for the DAC, a THD of &€®"0.0022, and an energy efπ✘ ficiency of 20mW. What this means i±α₩★s that the new Bluemini$γ× R2R consumes very liγ↑ttle, brings very clean and cle≠ §ar sound, and has the same ≥ shape and ergonomics as th™₹εe original bluemini. ✘ For phone calls, Bluemini has a back>λground hiss that’s audible sometimes, ≥ ✘and you can use the button to end a c♠ ₹all, for pressing play or paπ€↔use during song playba↑ ¶ck. The same hiss is✘↔☆♥ audible while the turn oσ Ωn / turn off voice speaks,λ∞π but it is not audible during mu£sic playback at all, B↕★↕luemini being not only perfectly c↔€®×apable of driving DEVA Pro but having extremely low noise, grea♣≥Ωt control and overall sonic quality. ♦™<
HIFIMAN kept the USB<λ DAC function for the Himalaya Bluemi¥φni R2R, and we can s♥♥till use it cabled, via ←©Bluetooth to power DEVA Pro, and DEVA Pro can take both two TRS 3.5mm cab∏γ✘les, or one TRRS 3.5mm cabl§€↔₩e in its left earcup (this is e♠✘÷xtremely rare though, you’ll nee✘d a custom 3.5mm TRRS cable made for↔∑ them). The new R2R Bluemini also has★♦ exceptional battery life, of about 8✘☆ hours on paper and 6 hours te ←sted by me, at loud to very loud vo♣"★lumes, aptX, LDAC, and s∏₩→ome phone talk. The n↑®∏γew blue mini module has a microphone aε☆αΩs well, and it can be used to take pλ ☆hone calls, having one of th↓'☆e best phone qualities for the miφλ♠ crophone, although it doesn’t have a g"♥ood noise cancelling algorithΩ m, so wind noise will be §&βaudible. DEVA Pro being open, I suspect you won’t be us≠↓ing them where there’s win'δdy weather or lots of noise an&λyways. The R2R Bluemini Rπαφδeceiver always runs in balanced TRRS ₹₹→≈3.5mm, and you need β¥↑to make sure that you alwa₽♣♠ ys connect it to the left ea↕φ✘rcup, otherwise you might short itβ÷< out.

At the headphone level, DEVA Pro is extremely comforλtable, lightweight, and a ple"↔asure to wear. They are lighter t≥₩han most flagships, lighter than Audπσ♠eze LCD-2C, lighter than Verum One MK2, and they’re as comfortable a ←πs the original DEVA, more comfortable than Sundara. The only headphone I reviewed thatα₽φ is more comfortable than DEVA Pro by a good margin is HIFIMAN’s Arya Stealth, which has larger earpads, slighγ←♠'tly less clamping forc✘e, and a looser fit. The nπ≤ormal cable for using them i™s flexible, and of a really g≥♦λ®ood quality. Feels more relia≈↔ble than the cable that HE400SE comes with.
The review has the word Stealt&δ×h in the title, because DEVA Pro uses the new HIFIMAN T'±echnology for their drivers, also $∞ ∑seen in my review of the HIFIMAN ↕φ§Arya Stealth, technology which makes ÷≤←the magnets invisible to sou γ₽nd. Basically, the new way the £≈÷magnets are designed a♣₹Ωllows for sonic waves to pass thr$"ough them without generatλ≠≈ing interference, leading to a more ≠σclean overall sound. We w×↔ill see below if it w☆$orks as intended, in✔♠σ the sound quality part of today’s rev™☆iew.

Sound Quality
I usually leave the β pairings part of a review for"Ω the Build Quality, or I make a dβ≈Ω♠ifferent part about pairing, butγ© HIFIMAN DEVA Pro is unique in this a×♦™δspect, as it comes with the Bluemi¥σ≠Ωni that it is supposed to be ®±γ•used with. This means both that×"¥γ it sounds quite great with iσ↓♣αt, but also that you may e →★nd up always using it wi® ←reless. Even using high-end DAPs lik≈¥e iBasso DX300, Astell & Kern SE180, Lotoo PAW 6000 and Desktop sources like Cyrus One Cast and Violectric HPA V340, I still find the Bluemini enjoyabl £¶e, and almost in line wi>σ↓βth all the other high-e'±₩nd sources. HIFIMAN really "✘optimised the bluetooth receiver to gi£↓ve an impressive soni&γc performance with DEVA Pro, and they didn’t fail to ✘∞deliver. DEVA Pro is hard to drive and needs₩≤¥λ high-end sources to sound their bπ'♠¥est. No smartphone will be able to driv♥δ≤e it properly, and most entry-le♥↑♠₽vel portables as well as smartphones π≤won’t get them very loud↑≥₩.
With all of that out↕σ∏ of the way, I’ve used DAPs ↑ε♣and high-end sources half of the tγ'εime, and the Bluemini half of the tiπ&££me for taking the sounε✔d quality notes, and to kee♦♠p things fair. The overall sonic p ₹£resentation can be described as lightw$✘Ω♣eight, impactful, wide ↔±π↕and well separated, neutr•↕↑λal-natural in tuning, witλ↕h great extension in both the t↔→αreble and the bass, and with an a£©♥•mount of warmth in the midrange. δ
